Cedar Audio Plugins Now At Lower Prices

Over the past 6 months CEDAR have released new versions of almost of all of their plug-ins, and radically dropped their pricing to be very competitive with other noise reduction software, such as Izotope RX11. This is big news, as CEDAR are the world leader in audio noise reduction, restoration and forensic solutions, and their plug-in pricing no longer starts at $1,399 (and up).

This month CEDAR have added two new plug-ins to their line-up, which are available in-store and the L&M website:

Auto Dehiss - CS9-ADH, SKU: 0824203, MAP: $189.00

Dehissers are prone to generating artefacts known as twittering and glugging, and the underwater effect. In contrast, Auto Dehiss removes noise in real time without unwanted side-effects. Use it to remove tape hiss and other broadband noise when mixing and mastering, in post, and when preparing user copies in libraries and archives.

Debuzz - CS9-DEB, SKU: 0824204, MAP: $379.00

Debuzz removes all manner of buzzes and hums with fundamentals as high as 500Hz, and can eliminate unwanted harmonics across the entire audio spectrum, without unwanted artefacts. It will track wandering tones so that the problems don’t reappear if the fundamental frequency changes.

Use it in real time when mixing and post to remove problems such as mains hum, guitar buzz, and lighting buzzes.

Declip 2 - CAM-8, SKU: 0738864, MAP: $399.00

If you ever encounter clipping, Declip 2 is your solution. Declip 2 effortlessly removes the clipped samples and reconstructs the signal that would have existed had the clipping not occurred. Not only does this eliminate the distortion, it improves the clarity of both music and speech, restoring the original dynamic range of the damaged audio to breathe new life into previously unsalvageable recordings.

CEDAR's Emmy Award winning Decrackle process has been used to remove crackle for innumerable music recordings, movie soundtracks and vintage TV shows. Using it couldn't be simpler - just a single control to determine the amount of crackle removed.

Perfect for audio restoration, sampling from vinyl and sample polishing.

DNS One - I-DNS, SKU: 0824211, MAP: $479.00

When CEDAR received an Academy Award for transforming dialogue noise suppression (DNS), the hardware DNS1500 could be found on virtually all dubbing stages worldwide, and became the tool of choice for removing unwanted noise. Today, DNS technology has evolved further than ever before, and is now available as software. With CEDAR's unique LEARN capability which calculates the noise contained within the signal, and controls to determine the range of frequencies to be processed, it offers users the ability to process the whole audio spectrum or focus on specific problems.

ScreenVox - I-SCV, SKU: 0824212, MAP: $479.00

ScreenVox is a dedicated plug-in for spoken word with near-zero latency, ensuring that there's no loss of lip-sync. Perfect for suppressing background noise from spoken word for live sound, broadcasting, podcasting, post-production and archiving.

StageVox - I-STV, SKU : 0824213, MAP $479.00

Very similar to the ScreenVox (above) - a near-zero latency noise reduction plug-in, but aimed at singing, rather than spoken word. It's also great for mastering; not only does it reduce noise, but it also suppresses excessive reverberation. It’s currently being heard on the road live with Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart and many more singers.

VoicEX 2 - I-VEX, SKU: 0824214, MAP $479.00

Whilst the VoicEX 2 reduces noise on vocals, like the StageVox, it does incur higher latency, making it not suitable for live sound and broadcast. 

Designed for the studio, VoiceEX 2 is the most advanced voice extractor CEDAR have developed. It's close to being a magic button - where you might expect numerous controls, you'll find just two - one to determine the loudness of the background, and the other to control the loudness of the speech. Reduce the former to make noise and excessive reverberation go away. Reduce the latter, and the voices go away. Increase either to emphasise that part of the signal. It may be simple, but the results can be truly stunning.
